Things to Do
There are many interesting things for tourists to see and do in the area. See below:
The Rose Garden is situated on Phetkasem Road, about 32 kms from Bangkok. This Rose Garden has an area of about 60 acres and consists of beautiful lawns, a small lake, gardens, orchards, a first-class hotel with swimming pool, restaurants, children's playground, Thai and Chinese-style buildings, and famous Thai Village Cultural shows, such as Thai folk dancing, Thai boxing, cock fighting, and sword fighting demonstrations.
Pra Pathom Chedi
Originally the pagoda was built as an Indian-style stupa in the shape of an upside down bowl. Subsequently, the shape was changed after restorations. Pra Pathom Chedi is about 120 meters high and surrounded by viharas and porches. The great pagoda is a place of enshrinement of the Lord Buddha's remains, respected by Buddhists all around the world.
Don Wai Market
Don Wai Market, situated in Tambon Bang Kratuek behind the Don Wai temple, still retains the appearance of a market dating back to the King Rama VI period. The old building is made of wood and located on the banks of the Tha Chin River. Food vendors travel by boat to sell their goods here, and agricultural produce is sold daily from 07.00-18.00. Boats are available to rent for scenic river trips.
Taling Chan Floating Market
This little weekend meeting place on the canals offers a delightful respite for visitors weary of salesmen's tricks and scams. Unlike some other floating markets, Taling Chan retains a genuine sense of tradition. In a calm and serene atmosphere, a handful of vendors slide their boats along the banks offering fruits, vegetables, food and dessert - at a local price for everyone alike.
The products sold on the water are consumed right there, at tables on one of the floating restaurants. Music and classical Thai dancing add the finishing touches to a scene of traditional life for the locals of the area. To explore the neighboring countryside in more detail, you can take a tour of the canals on a long-tail boat from the jetty.
